Howard Hanson "Romantic Symphony" #2
Eastman Rochester Orchestra, Hanson conducting
Mercury Golden Imports
My God, this just so stunningly beautiful... not particularly complex, powerful, or even great, but just shear melodic, romantic beauty. This is like a real love affair with a woman, not some infatuation of a teenager, but a deep and mature expression of a joyously contented soul.
The main theme of the "Romantic" is something that can bring goosebumps.
I've got the original Mercury, but this is one those instances where the repressing is simply better, and honestly, I find that to be the rule rather than the exception with the Dutch repressing on Mercury Golden Imports. I think it's simply better vinyl than the old U.S. Mercurys of the 50's and 60's
These aren't particularly expensive, so if you don't have one, go find one.
