OK, after a few Classic Records 200gr, 45rpm Jazz samplers, (and 2 martinis, God I looked forward to those),  I finally get to hear Jerome's offering to the masses;

Smithville
Louis Smith | Format: vinyl, 45rpm

Hey, at my age you have to stretch, you don't want me to pull a hammie now, do you? Great SQ on it, but after the title tune, I found the playing somewhat 'Blue Notian', just kinda blends in with a lot of other things. I'll take Miles or Lee on trumpet, or a young Freddie Hubbard or Blue Mitchell. Still, if I found this in the 'New Arrivals' section at the crackhouse in VG++ to NM shape, I'd buy it.

Finished the night with Miles' KoB 180g.

Well, to keep in the spirit of the last few posts ...

I have finished raking out the lawn today, fixed the fence, distributed the crabgrass and grub killer and am now relaxing with a nice glass of Espelon Resposada tequila listening to this (yeah, I know it's St Paddies day and I will drink my Guinness later after dinner).

Pat Metheny/Brad Mehldau - Metheny Mehldau Quartet (CD)

Sounds really good. Wonder if the tequila has anything to do with that?

Bob -

I'm an Irishman from S. Boston, you have my permission to drink tequila.

But it's too early for the grub control.

An early Analogue Productions 180g 45RPM vinyl reissue of a classic Miles Davis session on Prestige that is marred by numerous pressing defects.  This one was pressed at RTI, and as most of you already know I think RTI's overall quality is among the poorest in the industry.  I hope Chad fares better with his Quality Records Pressings plant.

Original vinyl - still doesn't sound or play very well. I like the band but I can't say I like this album.

Very cool to hear live renditions of these songs. Really looking forward to seeing him at the end of the month.

The Blue Note Re-issue Series (Freddie Hubbard)
Freddie Hubbard (Composer) | Format: Vinyl

From the 'net;
"A collection of some of Freddie Hubbard's great early to mid 60s output for Blue Note, compiled and released in 1975 during a time when a number of his LPs were no longer available (not unlike these days . . .). While Freddie would cut great sides throughout his career, some of his fieriest playing was during this time, and he's joined by a batch of greats who are definitely there to deliver the message too, including James Spaulding, Hank Mobley, Wayne Shorter, McCoy Tyner, Philly Joe Jones and ELvin Jones, amongst others (these tunes were pulled from the Crisis, Breaking Point and Hub Cap sessions). 13 tracks on 2 lp's.
