Minty Riverside mono pressing.  Superb session with Eddie "Lockjaw" Davis and Harry "Sweets" Edison.  Highly recommended.  If you can't find a good vinyl copy then consider getting the OJC reissue on CD.

Sitting in a hotel room in Fort Lauderdale trying to stay awake to watch the game, but may just slip off to the Land of Nod with Mr. Davis and crew.

There's a lot of giants in that band. Check out his other records from mid 70s.

Here's some eye candy for those who actually read this thread. I've only listened to it once so I really don't have a feel for the music yet - nothing really stood out though. Clapton plays the guitar parts, which are noticeably bluesey. But I don't think they fit the music as much as Jeff Beck's guitar did on Amused to Death.

Analogue Productions 45RPM 180g vinyl reissue.  This is the first Art Blakey/Jazz Messengers LP that I have heard outside of their work on Columbia and Blue Note.  The music isn't like their earlier work, which is far superior IMO.  Some of the tracks and arrangements would be more at home with the Miles Davis Quintet than the Jazz Messengers.  The SQ was a little disappointing as well.  The mastering doesn't live up to the other LPs in the Analogue Productions Impulse! 45RPM vinyl reissue series.  If you want the best that this series has to offer then look no further than Freddie Hubbard's Body and Soul or John Coltrane's A Love Supreme.
