Then on to somethign completely different - Steve Wilson's new solo effort (on vinyl), Grace For Drowning. Steve Wilson is the guiding light behind the band Porcupine Tree.

Just drove to the crackhouse last week to get some PT vinyl, but he wanted $300 for the one I wanted.   :nono:

How's the Wilson solo effort compare?

Went to put on 45rpm copy of Rumours, but wound up grabbing the $1 copy I just bought. Sounds fine as background while I configure my Blackberry.

PT vinyl is definitely rare, and expensive even if you can score one right off the presses. They are collectable for sure. Not so certain the sound quality is any better than digital though since they are alll digitally recorded and mastered.

SW's solo stuff is more in lines with early PT. Mostly atmospheric with some of the hard stuff there for effect. Definitely artsy and not commercial at all. I do like this new one better than Insurgentes, although there were a few things on that there were very good too.

You may wonder why I'm listing so many albums today? Well ... I'm "working" from home today.  :thumb:

Pat Metheny / Ornette Coleman - Song X (one side only, there's just so much of this free jazz that I can take at one time, although the sound on this vinyl is great)
