The Monkees - Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn and Jones Ltd.
Rhino Vinyl Reissue
From avaxhome:
After wresting control of the Monkees from Don Kirschner and recording the very good Headquarters album as a mostly self-contained unit, the band members returned to using studio musicians to augment their sound as well as looking outside the group for the majority of the songs on their fourth album, Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn & Jones Ltd. Whatever the reason for the decision, the resulting album is one of their best.
Recording sessions for the album began June 10, 1967 with "Pleasant Valley Sunday" and continued for almost two weeks ending with the recording of "Star Collector" on June 22nd before the band was forced to take a break due to a performance tour. Recording was resumed with a marathon tracking session on August 23rd and a mono mixing session at the Hollywood RCA Studio on September 5th, an overdub session on September 6th, 7th, 9th & 15th and a second mono mixing session on October 4th. The finished LP was released in the USA in November 1967 and a month later in the UK.
