dB Audiolabs Tranquility DACs and Eric Hider

(1/1)

mresseguie:
Dave (or anyone else who knows),

Is Eric Hider still running dB Audiolabs? Does he still mod Mac Mini computers?

There's a guy on AC who asked.

I still own my Tranquility SE DAC.

Triode Pete:
Hi Michael,
I forwarded the AC post to Eric...

Cheers,
Pete

mresseguie:
Thanks, Pete!

Michael

I saw the recommendation on AC.  I sent Eric a heads-up, too.

The late 2012-2014 mini when gutted and re-loaded with the dBAL  software package is still on of the go-tos for a small server.  I have several Core i7 2.3GHz w/16G RAM machines that run like trains.

The Mac mini was designed for low noise with its 5-layer board.  When all of the BS running in the background is eliminated, every one of the associated switching functions toggling ones and zeros is gone.  Plus, the Apple audio engine is superior to ASIO.  There is a reason why industry production standards Avid/Pro Tools audio/video systems run on Mac platforms and operating systems.
