Title: First post from the past
Post by: nhb007 on July 17, 2018, 02:51:05 PM
Hi everyone,
Greetings from Kingston, Jamaica. We have an active group of music lovers here who have transitioned from vinyl to CD to music servers built by PCDoctor out of Ft Lauderdale.
I’m running Roon 1.5 on my server with AO in core mode into a BMC Puredac into a Parasound A21 driving Magnepan 3.7s and I’m quite happy. Got that itch to try Audirvana for Windows when it stabilizes, though.
Cheers
Noel

Your post title is a bit cryptic, but welcome aboard. A Jamaican meeting or listening session would be nice in winter. I’m still a CD guy though, so I can’t converse in the alphabet soup of you kids... Hearty greetings from New York.

Always good to add some international flavor to your group.

I have to agree with Jim, a lot of what you said in your post went right over the head of this old time analog guy, but we have have quite a few members that are heavily into the music server end of the hobby and speak the language fluently.

Welcome aboard  :thumb:

Welcome aboard, Noel!

BTW, Audirvana with my modded Mac Mini sounds great! Wouldn't know how the Windows version would sound...

Cheers,
Pete

Hello Noel,
Very nice equipment you have and welcome to the forum. I have had all my music on a hard drive for the last 9-10 years at least, much to the dismay of my wife who doesn’t want to learn how to operate Roon. My main problem with having everything on a hard drive is that some of the tagging is quite screwed up and I know it will be very time consuming to fix it. I think a couple of other guys here use Audirvana as well. Enjoy 👍
