Title: Grover Tour
Post by: Carlman on October 05, 2011, 01:44:43 PM
It'd be a good idea if you started a cable demo thread under the manufacturer's area here... You could even solicit reviews and track who has your cables.

I used to own the Grover SC IC cables and i enjoyed them very much.i would enjoy demoing a 1 meter pair of Grover's latest and greatest RCA IC's between my DAC and my SET integrated tube amp.

Are there phono cables?

I'd like to demo cables from 1 manufacturer, so 1.5 meter phono cables from tt to pre, 1.5 meter from phono pre to pre, and 1.5 meter pre to amp.

Hi Guys I'd love you to hear my cables lets see if we can formulate some kind of schedule. How about a 2 meter RCA that can be sent around, as a beginning.

I would also love to try out your speaker cables, but I am probably in the minority needing a bi-wired pair (or 2 pair). 7' works for me.

Hi Everyone, thank you Carl for moving this thread much appreciated. Lets start by who would like to listen to an RCA pair, then later a phono cable, and speaker cables. Please let me know who is interested in the RCA and supply your shipping address's.

PM sent for the IC.

I too would like to try bi-wires for speakers should such a tour begin.

Hi guys, I'd like to send around a 2 meter RCA pair for the forum members to sample. Anyone interested in listening to these cables please send me a private message with your address and we'll start the tour. First the line level RCA, Later speaker cables. I believe my cables will dramatically improve your musical satisfaction, and looking forward to your listening impressions. Even if you have very expensive cables you should give mine a listen I think you'll be happy you did.

I would highly recommend sending 2 pair so people can hook up source to pre, and pre to amp.

Guess I should sign up too...can compare them to my old Grovers' and my current' which left those old Grovers in the dust...unless, my old Grovers get sold by the time they get here...then they would be H2H with my current...
Well, you get the idea.

This is going to be fun. I'm new to these tours, I send the cable to a member he evaluates them, then he sends them back to me and I send them to the next member? Or do members send the cables to the next member? I plan to make the cables very sturdy to survive the ordeal.

Usually the guy who has them just sends them off to the next person. What is the time limit for each person to evealuate them ?

Grover, usually its a 1 week evaluation  at each stop. Each person on the tour is responsible for shipping to the next person on the list, with shipping notifications to both the next person and the vendor/manufacturer. The last person on the list ship the cables back to you.
Impressions/reviews are posted in the tour demo thread.

I say 2 weeks. Not all of us are home to listen all day long.

Grover,

Do you have any kind of cable cooker that you could use to give the tour cable a good burn in before it heads out? If you want to try and keep the stops down to a week the cable might not even be broken in before the first one or two folks have to ship it off.  Even if you don't have a cooking device per se it might be a good idea to give it a good burn in at the factory before it hits the road even if that means delaying the tour for a week or so. That way at least everybody gets to hear the cable at its best.

If "Tmazz" is participating in the tour, please put me on the list too.  We live all of about 5 miles from each other.

Thanks!

I'm game for some IC adventure and live close to both Tom and Bill so handoffs are easy. But I really want to hear the speaker cables.  :thumb:

I want to be included on the tour and would like to hear Grover's new IC's and speaker wire. I have several versions of Grover's offerings up to the 'SC(dot)' and a 'S Graphite' phono cable. Has Grover mentioned if this will be a hereto unheard version or is he still playing with the SX?

For anyone who hasn't heard his cables, I suggest jumping at this opportunity as his cables have been a revelation for me at times, bettering the likes of Cardas, Kimber and Nordost (among others) in my system. I also appreciate that they fit the smaller RCA jack plates on vintage gear - Dynaco, Fisher, McIntosh, Scott, Sherwood, etc. Its usually a tight connection so care must be taking putting them on and taking them off but that's a good thing as it makes a solid contact.

Grover. As one who has conducted tours please take some advice.
First off choose a carrier and insurance requirements. Allow two weeks between auditioners. A mandatory written review on AN.
Break in the cables fully to avoid the BS. Provide a complete set to cover ones system. Say two ICs and one set speaker cables. A digital cable if available. With ones system wired with a full set one can discern the affect of each when removed or visa versa. The synergy wrought by a complete system will do your product more good than harm.
  Best of luck.

rollo that's good advice but I'd like to keep it simpler than that. Starting with only the RCA's will give people a very good idea of my cables capabilities. Guys with expensive cables should also take advantage of the tour. I'll break in the cables and begin the tour next week. I'll publish a schedule of sorts. I know there will be variables and unforeseen things. I hope to get an easy to use tin for convenient packing and sending.

Just a thought, those 'If it fits, it ships', Priority Mail flat-rate boxes (medium size) cost @$10-11 with insurance to ship anywhere in the US and should be large enough to hold as many cables as you'd want to send and enough packing material to keep them safe from even the most careless postal worker. I'm not sure if the box can be reused but the boxes are free and readily available at most post offices. You can even order them from the PO and have them delivered to your door. By contrast, a box weighing 10lb cost $15 via FedEx to ship from Baltimore to Raleigh. Might be worth a look...

Hi guys breaking in the tour cables now. The flat rate box sounds like the way to go. I appreciate everyone participating. This should be fun. I'm working on the schedule now.

It's almost been a month since the cables were being burned-in and preparing to ship.  Rollo's asked for some updates that have gone unanswered. To be fair to our members, I'm closing this tour because it doesn't make sense to have this open drawing interest for a non-event.

If a new tour gets started, start a new thread with specifics, including a timeline.
