Jimmy Bruno: Live at Birdland

Rich - I couldn't find the "Like That CD", but the library had this Jimmy Bruno album instead, thanks for the tip!  :thumb:

Bruford's Earthworks -Footloose and Fancy Free

Bill Bruford, the extraordinary drummer late of Yes and King Crimson (please do not hold that against him, you will be doing yourself a disservice), leads his Earthworks band on a live journey through their four studio albums.  The music is jazz; quirky, odd, melodic, dissonant but very much jazz.  Pieces of hard bop, fusion, swing and new age appear and fade away in Earthworks' unusual style, but this music is jazz at its core.

Bruford, as always, is stunning in his precision and timing; all the while never ever sounding mechanical.  He brings humanity and melody to his rhythms.  The members of Earthworks are all top notch musicians and the recording is crystalline.  Highly recommended.

Brand New prog band with the usual ties to Genesis, but with a songwriting flair and sound all their own. Very catchy hooks and melodies that stay in your head all day. Definitely recommend this one for those of you who like prog but are tired of prog-metal.

Entangled Devotions: Russian Symphony Orchestra; Mark Gorenstein, Conductor; Naum Starkman, Piano

IMHO, the best of the classical recordings made by Gene Pope for his (soon to be) doomed record Company Popemusic

Contains two Beethoven pieces, Piano Concerto No. 5 "Emperor.and the Moonlight Sonata.

Can be found on Amazon for just stupid kinds of money (under a dollar.)

There were two pressings of this album, a standard aluminium disc (PM 1004-2 ) and a 24K gold disc (PM_2004-2)

Good haul from the "Crack House" this week. 15 LPs including 4 RCA Living Stereos and 3 British import pressings from the London FFSS series. These will take me a while to get through, but I'll keep at it. (Looks Like overtime in the mancave this weekend. It's a tough job, but somebody's got to do it.  :) )

First up is a vintage rock album called "Tarkio" from that one hit wonder group Brewer and Shipley. )Who could forget their (only) hit single "One Toke Over the Line" ?)  #-o

You know you are dealing with an old album when the cover has a staement saying that thealbum is also viable on Ampex 8-track tape.  :duh
