Respighi: Pines of Rome



I was very disappointed in this record. The sonics were not particularly good given the 45 RPM pressing, whichs goes to show you that techology alone is simply not enough.  But more disturbing was the fact that the performance was very mechanical and without any soul. I would pass ths one up.

Percy Faith: Clair



I had long seen Percy Faith albums in the record stores but had never owned or even heard one. So when I saw this one, in good condition, in the Crack House I figure what the heck, let's check it out. The recording itself is not bad, but the content is pure elevator music. I guess it is OK if you are into that kind of stuff, but it is just not my cup of tea.

OK, all that glitters is not gold. While this is a London Blueback, the sound quality has a lot to be desired. Very strident and steely strings. Not the lush sound we have come to expect from the Blue Back series.

Picked up this LP at the Crack House over the weekend, although in the 33 1/3 RPM single LP edition. Not a world beater, but decent sonics and performance.

John Williams & the Boston Pops: Aisle Seat



I am usually not a big fan of the John Williams era of the Boston Pops, but I guess an entire album of film music was right in his wheelhouse. Nice recording good performance and fun music. For those who like the Boston Pops, this is a nice addition to the collection.
