My wife still has very limited mobility after her foot surgery, so I get to do most (OK, all) of the shopping for the time being. Yesterday she asked to to go to a store that was only a block away from Looney Tunes, so I just had to stop in.  :Dunno

Only found 1 CD, but I picked up a great tee shirt.

Big score last night in of all places, the library. I walk in to get a movie for my wife and right by the counter were two boxes of CDs that somebody had donated that they were selling for a buck a piece. Of course being a good citizen I felt it was my civic duty to support the library's fundraising efforts......... (Yeah, my wife didn't buy that one either.  :Dunno )

The Dave Brubeck Quartet: So What's New? - Telarc CD
Dave Brubeck: Once When I Was Very Young - Music Masters Jazz CD

Hey tom, keep an eye out for an audio rack for my daughter. You know, the typical black one with a glass door, or something similar.

I was at the crack House this weekend but they didn't have anything I could use.

I have been looking ever since I saw your post. I will let you know if I see anything.

The crack house is funny like that, you just have to be lucky enough to find one on the floor when you need it. Of course after you find one there will be three of them there on your next visit.

Monty Alexander: The Good Life - Chesky Hybrid SACD
Kenny Burrell: The Gold Collection - Fine Tune Gold CD
Arthur Fiedler/Boston Pops: An American Salute RCA CD
(This is not a Living Stereo or any other special pressing, but what the heck, it was only 49 cents.)

Yesterday's planned pilgrimage to PREX had to be put off because one of the guys going with us ended up having a last minute work conflict. So I figured just because I'm not going to New Jersey doesn't mean I can't do a little local hunting. I hit three local stores after work today and ended up bringing home quite a bit of nice stuff.

Analog:

Piston: The Incredible Flutist, Moore: Pagent of P.T Barum - Hanson/Eastman-Rochester Orchestra -  Mercury Living Presence LP
Tchaikovsky: 1812 Overture - Dorati/Minneapolis Symphony Orchestra -  Mercury Living Presence LP
Fiedler/Boston Pops: Tenderly - RCA Living Stereo LP
Mario Lanza Sings Caruso Favorites - RCA Living Stereo LP
Feidler/Boston Pops: Marches in Hi-Fi - RCA Living Stereo LP
Menotti: Amahl and the Night Visitors - The NBC Opera Company - RCA Living Stereo LP
Feidler, Reiner et al: Music to Have Fun By - RCA Living Stereo LP
Holst: The Planets - Mehta/The Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra - London LP
Stanley Black/London Festival Orchestra: Spectacular Dances for Orchestra - London Phase 4 LP
We Know What We Like, The Music of Genisis: Palmer/The London Symphony Orchestra - RCA Red Seal LP
The Horowitz Collection - RCA Victor 2 LP Box set (Mono)
Tony Bennett's Greatest Hits, Volume 4 - Columbia LP
Linda Ronstadt's Greatest Hits - Asylum LP
Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass: Whipped Cream and Other Delights A&M LP (The vinyl is trash, but I need a good condition cover for my new reissue)

Digital:
Bob Dylan: Highway 61 Revisited - Columbia Hybrid SACD
Bob Dylan: Blonde on Blonde - Columbia Hybrid SACD
Ray Brown Trio: Don't Get Sassy - Telarc CD
Oscar Peterson/Benny Green: Oscar and Benny - Telarc CD
Rachmaninoff: Symphony No. 2 - Previn/Royal Philharmonic Orchestra - Telarc CD
Rachmaninoff: Symphony No. 5 - Previn/Royal Philharmonic Orchestra - Telarc CD
Chopin: Jon Kimura Parker - Telarc CD
Williams/Boston Pops : Music of the Night - Sony CD
Breakfast in Bed - CBS Masterworks Dinner Classics CD
A Cocktail Party - CBS Masterworks Dinner Classics CD
Chris Botti: To Love Again - Columbia DualDisc
The Very Best of Diana Krall - Verve CD
Leon Russell - Shelter Records/The Right Stuff CD
The Best of John Denver Live - Sony Legacy CD
Barry Manilow: Here at the Mayflower - Concord CD
Don Randi and Quest: Don't Look Back - Headfirst CD
Let It Be Jazz - Connie Evingson Sings The Beatles
Bob James: Obsession - Warner Bros CD
Little Feat: Representing the Mambo - Warner Bros CD
Neil Young and The Bluenotes: This Note's For You - Reprise CD
The Traveling Wilburys - Volume 3 - Warner Bros CD

Not a bad haul for a few hours of shopping in local stores (and there are three more that I would like to hit before the end of the weekend)

Yesterday I went up to Massachusetts to visit my mother for Easter. Got there around lunch time and by 3:30  she was all tired out and it was time to leave and let her take a nap (She is 87 and in an assisted living facility so a three hour visit is a big deal for her.) Seeing as we were done a bit earlier than I had anticipated and I am flying solo this weekend and had no need to rush home I figured it would be a good chance to check out some of the used record stores in the Amherst area. Amherst is a big college town, I think there are 5 colleges within a 15 minute drive of the down town area, And I figure that with a lot of college students should come a lot of trade ins. Well boy was I wrong. After spending 90 minutes in the two biggest record stores in town I came away with zip, zero, nada, nothing.

I only saw two or three things that even grabbed my interest and they were price two or three times higher than I could have gotten them for at home. After making such a good haul on Friday, I got completely skunked on Saturday.   :-k

Not being one to give up easily, after getting skunked yesterday, I figured it was time to take the bull by the horns and try again today. I had not been to the Mr. Cheapo store in Commack in a while so when I got done with church at 11:00, I gave them a call to see if they were open given the Easter Holiday. The guy who answered the phone said not really but he would be there until about 1 PM. Well I was only 20 minutes away, so off I went. Because of his commitment to be out of the store and heading home by 1:00 I did not have time to dig too deeply, but I did come away with a dozen CDs. (They had just gotten in a big load of classical LPs, but I did not have time to wade through them... there's always next time.)

Barney Kessel, Shelly Manne and Ray Brown: The Poll Winners - JVC XRCD
The Glenn Miller Orchestra: In the Digital Mood - GRP 24k Gold CD
Kenny Burrell: 75th Birthday Bash Live! - Blue Note CD
Blue Note Plays Rodgers&Hart - Blue Note CD
George Winston: Love Will Come, The Music of Vince Guaraldi, Volume 2 - Dancing Cat CD
Danny Wright - Black and White - Moulin D'Or CD
David Foster: The Symphony Sessions - Atlantic CD
Deborah Henson-Conant: Caught in the Act - GRP CD
Dave Grusin: Havana, Original Motion Picture Soundtrack - GRP CD
Billy Mays/Ray Drummond: One to One - DMP CD
The Rolling Stones: Voodoo Lounge - Virgin CD
Dvorak: Violin Concerto - Midori/Mehta/New York Philharmonic - CBS Masterworks CD

I feel redeemed for yesterday.  |:D|

So I get home from work last night and my wife wants to know if I wanted to take a ride with her over to Joanne's Craft store.

Now normally I avoid craft stores like the plague.... but this particular one is two doors away from Looney Tunes.  8)

After twenty minutes in the store I had come up with absolutely nothing. I was heading for the door rather bummed out when I saw a rack of CDs with a sign over them reading "Clearance - 25 cents each or 6 for a dollar.: YAHOO!!!!!!!  :yay2:

Picked up the following:

Chopin: Piano Concertos Nos. 1 & 2 - Arthur Rubinstein - RCA Living Stereo Hybrid SACD
Mendelssohn/Tchaikovsky Violin Concertos: Nishizaki/Jean/Slovak Philharmonic - Naxos CD
Bassoon Concertos - Stefano Canuti/Symphonica Toscanini Solo Players - Velut Luna CD
Elgar: Symphony No. 1 - Barbirolli/Philharmonia Orchestra - EMI Classics CD
Carreras, Domingo, Pavarotti: In Concert - London CD
George Winston: Linus & Lucy, The Music of Vince Guaraldi - Windham Hill CD
Count Basie Orchestra: The Jazz Collector Edition - Laserlight CD
Jimmy Dorsey: The Jazz Collector Edition - Laserlight CD
The Small Groups: The Jazz Collector Edition - Laserlight CD
Women in Jazz - Essential Music CD
Spyro Gyra: Dreams Beyond Control - GRP CD
Dave Grusin: Homage to Duke - GRP CD
The Best of Fold Music: Contemporary Folk - Putumayo World Music CD
The Best of the Isley Brothers - Laserlight CD
Bryan Wilson: Imagination - Giant/WB CD
Edie Brickell: Picture Perfect Morning

16 CDs, all in great condition for under $3.

The SACD alone was worth more than that.

.... And I got brownie points for driving my wife to the store.  :thumb:
