From RadioActive Records;

John Barleycorn Must Die - Traffic
On The Road - Traffic
<both with STERLING in the dead wax>
So - Peter Gabriel
CSN&Y - 4 Way Street
My Favorite Chopin - Van Cliburn
Prokofiev Sonatas for Violin and Piano - Perlman/Ashkenazy
Tchaikovsky Concerto No. 1 - Van Cliburn
<3rd or 4th copy of this I've bought, but this one incredibly clean>
Shostakovich Sym No. 11 (1905) - Stokowski/Houston Symphony Orchestra

A lot more clean classical, much of it appears treated with LAST, but it will have to wait till my next trip.

Since we have been on the subject of box sets,I was on amazon this morning and noticed a pre-order listing for a Mercury Livung Pressence box set which will be released on March 6th.

50 music CDs and one disc containg an interveiw with Wilma Cozart Fine all for $132. Not a small sum of money to drop at one time, but on the other hand it comes to just a little over two and a half dollars a disc.

At RadioActive again;

Mingus Ah Um Stereo - Charles Mingus
Africa/Brass - The John Coltrane Quartet
Kind of Blue - Miles Davis
Strangers in the Night - Frank Sinatra
Dark Side of the Mooon - Pink Floyd
Certified Live - Dave Mason

Immaculate copy of DSOTM, EU edition import, gatefold cover with all the goodies still stuffed in it. A reissue, I called Bill and the colors he said the original EMI-Harvest label had not the same as this, but I'm still excited to have found it. According to stevehoffman.com, I have an A2/B3 copy per dead wax markings, supposed to a better pressing, plus DOUG scratched in the dead wax.

The Kob is also near mint, I have a few of these, but you can't have enough clean copies. This is a 6 eye reissue.

Damn, now you've got one up on me. I have a British DSOTM, but not one marked as from the EU.

Oh well, you can't have them all (not that this ever stopped me from trying.)

Last ones for awhile, I'm done with phase 1 in FL for a bit, so looks like I'm getting reassigned to Altoona, PA.

Altoona???????

What kinda name is that?

Big score at the Crack House today. I got 13 box sets from the Time Life Series "Arthur Fiedler's Favorites". Each box contains three Boston Pops LPs, pressed for Time life by RCA Records, and a 16 page book. Of the 39 total LPs all but 3 of them look like they have never seen a TT. Not even any spindle marks. The Sets are as follows:

-Guests of the Pops
-The American Spirit
-Classics, Carols & Cinema
-Latin Rhythms
-The Good Old Days
-Love Songs
-Fun with Fiedler
-The Ballet
-Concertos
-Classical Treasures
-Light Classics
-Marching in Review
-National Classics

So it was 13 sets with a total of 39 records and the whole thing cost me $9.78 (including sales tax!). I have one or two other sets from this series and while they are not reference grade from a SQ basis they did have more than credible sound making them a fantastic buy to the money.  :thumb:

Now the last dozen or so times I went to the Crack House I walked out empty handed, but as I have said before when you do hit you usually end up hitting in spades. :thumb:

OK, based on the pic you posted in the Just home thread it looks like the EU DOSTM pressing that you picked up is in fact one of the 30th Anniversary pressings. Not only do I have that one , I also have a couple of spare copies in case something happens to mine. (I told my kids to considered them life insurance for them - if they did anything to damage  my copy I wouldn't have to kill them. )

I feel vindicated.  :D

The good news is that it is a great find for you. IMO the 30th Anniversary edition is far and away the best sounding Dark Side LP ever produced. Enjoy! :thumb:

President's day sale at the Crack House.  :yay2:

Picked up a 14 CD set of live music from the shows that The Dead did in Morrison CO between June 15th and 20th of 2004 and it cost me the grand total of........96 cents.

I just got a VPI 16.5 record cleaner so I can now attack the 2 boxes of old LP's that a friend dropped off last year sometime. They were his fathers and are old and moldy and in generally not so great shape. But now I can clean them properly and assess what to keep and what to give away.

I'll be posting what I like on the other thread.

Tom - congrats to Bobby on hitting the milestone.

And control yourself at PREX - puh-lease, what's that nonsense!

Heading to FL next week, and looking to hit RadioActive as they posted a bunch of Jazz in, though some folks at AC have also discovered them, so there's competition now.

I never see Mercury Living Presence vinyl though I always look for it.

New 45RPM audiophile LPs...

New Speakers Corner 180g LPs...

New vintage vinyl buys...

I would have bought more vinyl but Gene has been spending some of my money on scotch.
