I just read about that on another board.
Too bad, "Big Andy" was obnoxious at times
but hate to see any high end B&M go out.

I can't say I'm surprised if all new customers got treated like I did when I visited a couple of years ago. They weren't rude, just not interested in selling anything and not available for questions, or knowledgeable. It was kind of a let down going there.. I guess whatever mojo they had when they started got lost somewhere along the way. It happens.

Carl don't take it personally. I can't remember ever going into that store and not being treated that way and this is going back 20 years or more. I always seemed if you were not about to drop mega-bucks on the table withing the next five minutes, nobody wanted to know you. I remember going back to the mid eighties standing there ready with half a dozen audiophile LPs in my hand trying to get some help finding one more that I was looking for. Now I realize that this wasn't a huge sale in audiophile terms, but it was over $100 worth of records that they could have sold with about two or three minutes worth of sales help. The staff was so disinterested in even talking to me that I just put the records down and walked out of the store. SO the attitude you got there was certainly nothing new. I often wondered how he stayed in business as long as he did with that kind of attitude. I guess they made enough money kissing the butts of the uber-rich that they didn't have to worry about keeping us little guys as customers. And in talking with lots of NYC audiophiles over the years I have found that my experience was not an uncommon one. There are quite a few high end establishments that I have been (or will be) saddened by news of their closing up shop. This is not one of them.
