Go join the Yahoo golden tube audio group and contact a gentleman named Loc Vu, he built one of my SE40's and he is very highly regarded .

Got one!

Even with shitty tubes and worn out tired caps this amp sounds great.
Very refined with lots of layers of resolution.

Very open and airy. not tubey but neutral with tube dimensionality.
Bass is a little soft but I can live with it.
I like it!!!

Next step.....Sonicraft mod and new tubes

Are you going to buy the kit and diy or have Jeff do it?

This is a very nice amp and with the upgrades available for it these days, you can turn it into a life keeper.
Do yurself a favor and do some research on the various upgrades available before moving forward. Better to do it once and do it right the first time rather than always wondering "what if"?
Keep us updated on your progress should you move in that direction. Most important....have fun :D
