Title: Amazon UHD Music service
Post by: HAL on November 14, 2019, 07:16:46 AM
Installed the trial version of Amazon UHD Music player and sounds very good so far.  Of course not everything is in UHD, but even CD quality sounds better.

Rig is a Meridian Audio Explorer2 USB DAC via line level output to a Schiit Magni 3 HPA driving my HiFiMan HD500 headphones.

May not have everyone's catalog, but I am good so far.

Hi Rich,
I hadn’t heard of the Amazon UHD. Any idea why a CD would sound better?

A lot of the other services until recently were still streaming compressed audio.  Never liked it so never signed up before.  At least this is sounding pretty good in all the formats I have played.

I'm using Amazon HD exclusively now for streaming. Dumped Tidal, Qobuz and Spotify. So far so good. SQ is good enough, I'll let the nit pickers pick nits about what they hear, real or imaginary. Music flows. Selection is good. Channels are ok.
