Spent some time last fall with a pair of Arion HS-500 amps that Mike K loaned me and that sure had me thinking hard

Then spent time with one of Shane's (HomeTheaterDoc's) Devialet integrated amps back just before the holidays.  Damn, what an elegantly designed piece of hardware that also just happened to sound amazing

Alas, the trick is to find the itches that I can afford to scratch... still working on that...

Just scratched my itch. Sold my old cartridge (Transfiguration Temper) and bought a new/used one (Lyra Kleos).

My next itch is to actually see the sun and bask in its warmth on a golf course.

Not an entirely new component but a major modification upgrade:

External crossovers for my speakers with Jupiter Cu foil caps for the tweeters (I have these) and Jupiter Al foil caps for the mid-range/bass (can't afford these just yet, I need 6 - 12uf).

I also will probably change the inductors, and have to order more Cardas copper binding posts, jumpers, and have some nice wood enclosures built. More $$$. Luckily, my cousin will build the enclosures at a very good price.

But also - in the back of my head - the thought of a custom integrated amp is percolating.

More like serious Nervosa...

Was loving my Clearaudio Maestro Wood V1 but heard great things about the new Maestro Ebony V2...

Last weekend, I set up the new cartridge (after calibrating my Fozgometer (another Nervosa)). Dropping the stylus on the first recording was awesome... a bit more dynamics (slam & weight) as well as effortless highs... not even close to be broken in yet...

Right now I have no desire whatsoever to try a MC cartridge... I think "I'm there" with vinyl (for now...)

Cheers,
Pete

Seeing how my only audio source is my HTPC and seeing how that was purchased back in 2002, I hunger for it's replacement, be it another HTPC or better yet a 2 computer system, one for me and one as a dedicated audio source. It's gotta happen, I just don't know when. Heck I'm still running a Windows XP. :duh

Still, my PC audio's till sounding killer so where's the hurry? Oh yeah,,, the itch.

Cheers,
Robin

It must be some kind of spring fever. Everybody upgrading at the same time, myself included.

Just replaced the Moscode 600 with a pair of Quicksilver Mid Mono amplifiers.

Full details to follow in another post once everything gets settled in.

Hey Tom,

I just thought of this... you can give me your Moscode 600 and I can pair it up with mine and run them as mono blocks.  Instead of 300wpc, I'll have 600!

Actually, those figures are into 8ohms.  My Vons are 6ohms, so I'll be getting 150% of those 600 watts.  Wow!  900wpc!!!

Don't know what time frame this is limited to because I have almost replaced everything in my system due to a system rebuild after being away from the hobby for 15 years. However, most recently i have upgraded from an Aragon 4004 Mk ii to a Modwright KWA100SE and from a Linn LP12 to a VPI Classic II. Next itch to be scratched? A Preamp  :-P

300W into Pete's horns would create enough sound pressure to knock down buildings.
