Have about 300 hours now on the Tom Tutay linestage.
 Fantastic to say the least.
So much so I'm having him build me his all tube phono stage with external power supply.
If I knew how to post photos I would. :duh

If anyone is interested I can send some photos I took.

 Have a great weekend!!!

Didn't I read somewhere Tom had an upgrade mod to the Mini Max Phono? Or someone was selling one modded? I also read that Alex has an upgraded model coming out?

Pictures, pictures, we need pictures.

Been listening to my TT exclusively the last 3 weeks and went back to CD last night.
Still very, very, good but what the hell? Just different!

The photos aren't much to look at as I pulled the pre & power supply out of my rack and just snapped a few. I just sent them to Carl so he'll post em.
The pre does come with a lifetime warranty :),always a good thing.
What is very impressive is the quality of the internals.Laid out beautifully and check out them solder joints. Tom's in his mid 60's and has been doing this just about his entire life and you can tell.
Each one is hand built so 6-8 weeks is the normal wait time, I'm sure it is a little longer on the phono pre as there are no transformer's, tubes do the work, as it is a lot more complicated then the linestage. Tom has me pretty excited as he believes his forte is building phono preamps and has made many over the years. I can remember the late Ronnie Kaplan who use to be the Koetsu distributor for the US before he passed away at way to young of an age, raving about the phono stages Tom builds.
I believe they are only for low output MC's though. Recommended carts in the range of .2mv to .6mv only as the gain on the phonopre is between 60-62db, I'll check to make sure though.Don't quote me on this but 4 tubes are used 12ax7,12au7,12aT7 or 12au7, and 12SN7/12SQ7 for each channel. Then of course the tube power supply which incorporates the 6X5 rectifier tube again.
 Well, it getting late,
 Later,
 Bill

Its the best preamp I've ever heard. The extension for the top end and bottom are spectacular. Bass is taut and deep while the highs go on forever without a hint a harshness. The midrange is glorious, sent from above. I know folks usually recommend components they have but anybody who has Tom build them one of these is in for a treat and I'm willing to bet they would never think about changing to another. It really is that special.
 I have to run,
 Bill

Hi Den,

Sorry about the fingerprints, I was handling the pre a lot trying to arrange it in my rack as I didn't want the power supply to close. :duh

The linestage is around 2k-$2400 depending upon options of inputs, outputs, balanced XLR's or RCA's. He charges extra for Mundorfs or any other esoteric cap you use.The Mundorf Silver/Gold /Oils are wonderful but expensive at almost $200 per cap but I had already purchased them so I had Tom throw them in.Normally I think he would use a pair of 3.3uf caps but I had the 4.7uf laying around so he used those. I sent him Silver/Oils for the phono. Can't wait till that arrives. You would have to call Tom on the phono but I think that is around $3K-$3400. A lot more work goes into it.
 No trades from Tom, sorry.
