Mozart: Symphony # 41 / Haydn: Symphony # 88; Reiner- Chicago Symphony

Another great Reiner performance. I often regret that I was never able to see him live.

Ken-

How did you like the 5th?  I'm not familiar with the Bruno Walter version, but the Bernstein posted by tmazz immediately after your Walter is part of my collection and one of the best versions I've heard.  The 5th's tempo should be slow, too often its pace is rushed.  The Bernstein is fabulous.

I really liked it and I am getting hooked on classical!

I will have to try to find the Bernstein Version.

It may well be some of the most intense and beautiful music I have ever heard!

I loved it and cannot wait to hear it again but it will probably be sometime on the weekend.  Have to hit the road!

Brave indeed! But when Ken gets into something he does not hold back.  :thumb:

There's a lot of great music in the Symphonic genre, and in Chamber music too (small band classical.) I find that it takes a few listenings to a new piece before I reach the peak of enjoyment. Same with any music really. So if you like it now, it only gets better!
