The WHo - WHo's Next (LP)

One of the best sounding copies of this album that I have ever heard (including several "audiophile" reissues.)
Sorry guys, Half of this post got lost somewhere along the line. I have gotten a number of questions about which pressing this was, so here is the info that I somehow chopped off the end.

I picked up this copy at a local thrift shop for 50 cents, (that's half a dollar, not the rap artist) with full intentions of giving it to my son, who only has a CD copy of this album. Cleaned it on the VPI 16.5 and dropped it onto the TT to test it before I gave it away. Wow this one is a keeper (Sorry Bob - RHIP.) It is and American pressing on Decca records [Matrix  - W2X]. When I compared it to a recent 180g pressing I found that the 180 bested it in many categories when each one was listened to in a vacuum (Better bass, better high end, more detail etc.) Yet for some reason, the old Decca pressing just had a more natural relaxed sound when listened to as a whole. The 180g pressing while better at individual things just sounded more "forced" when you put it all together. Sometimes the sum of all the parts comes up to be less than the whole....

One of the best jazz records ever made!!!! The first "Jazz Messengers" record before Silver left and Blakey became defacto leader.

Found a still in the shrink wrap copy of the original Colgems LP of the Casino Royale soundtrack at a thrift shop for 35 cents!

The shrink wrap was split but you could tell that the LP had never been out of the paper inner sleeve.  :thumb:

A long time resident of the Absolute Sound Super Disc List and an audiophile classic.

On vinyl....

Robbie Robertson, late of The Band.

Produced by Daniel Lanois.  Features cameos by Peter Gabriel and U2.  Moody, sensual, brilliant.

Lee Morgan was my trumpet hero when I was starting to play professionally. This is one recorded at his peak.   Lively players, smart and difficult music, inspired solos. Wayne Shorter, Bob Cranshaw (my fav bass player,) Billy Higgins, Harold Mabern.

Listen to title track,"The Gigolo"
