The dspMusik for a DSP RIAA Phono stage
« on: July 08, 2019, 02:09:27 PM »
The dspMusik is more than a DSP crossover.

Have been working with one dspMusik customer that has developed a phono preamp that uses the dspMusik for the DSP RIAA EQ along with his digital crossover.

He is using a commercially available balanced flat gain preamp for the MC cartridge with resistive and capacitive loading.

He has done response measurements that looks very good and now is listening to the results in comparison to his tube phono section.

Hope to hear his results when ready.

The flat gain phono system will be here next week.

Will implement the RIAA EQ in The Monoliths dspMusikLCD block diagram and get it ready for trials once the system arrives.

For the RIAA EQ testing with the dspMusik, my DSA Phono One beta unit was modified for flat gain use to drive the ADC for DSP EQ.

Will be adding the RIAA EQ processing to The Monoliths digital crossover design to do both with the system.

This will be the first implementation of no linear phase digital RIAA EQ and digital crossover for a system to my knowledge.  Neither the ADC or DAC's are using linear phase filter types.

Listening trials begin tomorrow.

The DSA Phono One modified for flat response is working with the dspMusikLCD running both the RIAA EQ and The Monoliths speaker crossover.

Vinyl replay via an updated Oracle Delphi MKI table, SME Series III arm and Shure Ultra 500 cartridge.

Thanks Nick!

Looks pretty good for a table that is 38 years old with a few updates.

Will be adding the phono RIAA DSP EQ to all dspMusikLCD system software that are sold if requested.

The customer still has to supply the flat gain phono preamp with cartridge loading section to use with the input ADC's.  One available is the Channel D Lino.  That is what the customer using the RIAA EQ has for is MC cartridge in his vinyl rig.  You just plug-in the balanced outputs of the preamp to the ADC's.  If someone has a balanced phono preamp, they just plug into the balanced inputs.

Another customer has a stock DSA Phono One plugged into the ADC's directly for his system.
