Peter Banks, Original Yes Guitarist, Dead at 65
« on: March 12, 2013, 08:35:29 PM »
Of the many band members that have made up Yes, Banks is the first to pass on.

Although he never matched Steve Howe in technical brilliance, his guitar work was easy and melodic.  The had several excellent solo albums, the best of which was Two Sides of Peter banks.

Not to be confused with Tony Banks, the keyboardist from Genesis (not related).

I guess those of us who grew up listening to prog as teenagers are starting to see our musical hero's kicking off from something other than drug oversodes and untreated cases of the clap.

Indeed.  He was the first to go of any of the Big Four prog groups.   Strange how the prog guys have survived while so many others perished.

It's cause they are primarily English. English rock musicians never die, just look at Keith Richards. I think he's won the "rock musician most likely to die this year" award each year for the last 10 years.
