Analog hits the big screen or small screen...Again

I was just watching the Showtime series "Californication" on Demand and in episode 9 they focused on David Dechovaney's system. Avid turntable and even though cut off at the bottom it looked like a Krell amp

Krell preamp too, I recognize that volume control knob.  I still think he's a dork, but nice system! Looks like the needle is on the record?
