Music Labels
« on: March 07, 2012, 09:33:31 AM »
As far as labels go, we all know and love certain ones for the musicians and style of music they tend to represent, their sound quality, etc. Then there are the dogs. Then there are the exceptional periods from a lable which become collectible.

So, does anyone want to contribute to a list of labels that are worth finding for sound quality, musical styles, general excellence? I think it might also be good to break this into Digital (CD, et al) and Analogue (records).

The labels I consistently find to be excellent on both CD and vinyl are:

- Pablo
- ECM

Naxos, Pentatone are usually great for digital classical music and recording quality.

Columbia records was always a premier jazz and classical label, at least until mid 90s. I don't know about now that it is owned by Sony, I  haven't bought anything from them in a long time.
