Title: After Market Cabling Sound
Post by: rollo on January 16, 2018, 10:38:31 AM
Have you noticed when you try a different IC or speaker cable the sound gets colored one way or another ? Warm, bright, forward, more bass, less bass, detailed, dynamic and so on.
Finding the right match can be frustrating as "One size does NOT fit all". NOS wire, Graphene, silver, copper, silver coated copper, tin plated copper. Then the winding of such.  Oye !!
All I want for Christmas is a proper ga. [ as per component manf. ] pure wire that is neutral in character. Meaning adds  nothing to sound. No unwanted capacitance, inductance or impedance to alter the sound.
Connectors as well add a character.

For me personally I prefer bare wire for speaker connections over any connector I have experienced. I made my own banana from copper tubing. Did no harm that I could hear. Slip wire in crimp and be happy. Or just bare wire. Everything has a sound good or not good.
Finding the right cable takes time and money. If manufactures of components would just give up the LCR requirements and ga. required for their gear cable selection and purchase of such would be narrowed and less BS.
