Miles Davis In Concert - My Funny Valentine

Miles recorded live at Lincoln Center's Phiharmonic Hall in 1964

Same concert as 'Four and More.' Valentine contains the ballads, Four has the up tempo tunes. Tony Williams' first recording with Miles.

FYI - You can also get both albums combined on a single Columbia Jazz Masterpieces CD release.  :)

Joni Mitchell - Ladies of the Canyon

I was surprised at just how good this stock Reprise LP sounded.

I have heard this before but never on a good system until today. I was surprised how well it is recorded, one of the best from this post-bop era, despite hard panned instruments. Playing is great, not as indulgent as The Bridge.

Sonny was pretty pissed about the cover, he took some serious ribbing.

Definitely one of my favorite Rollins albums.  :thumb:

Eric Clapton: Backtrackin

I purchased this album as a 2 CD set in the mid 80s and it has long been one of the better Clapton collection I own both from a musical selection and a sonic basis.

So it was with great anticipation that I picked up this 2 LP British import of the same album. Well this one breaks all the molds. The sound is absolutely wretched. (Of course the LP was "Digitally Mastered for Sound Perfection" back in 1984, so that might explain it.)  #-o

I know a whole lot of people (including my self) who never thought they would heard these words come out of my mouth, but the CD version of this album sounds far better than the equivalent LP.

I suggest that all of you run up to the attic and unpack your winter coats, because I think hell just froze over.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show

Brings back memories of college days gone by.

Come on... how many of you fellow New Yorkers can remember doing the Time Warp at the Friday Midnight showings of this film at the Mini-Cinema in Uniondale?

James Taylor & Carole King - Live at the Troubadour

Good music, good performance, good sound (put out by Hear Records, a division of Concord, which has a long history of producing live albums). Enough of each to make this an enjoyable album for Taylor & King fans, but not really enough to make this a must buy for people who weren't leaning that way in the first place.

Have been picking up some thrift shop copies of vintage rock LPs for my son's collection and in the process getting the chance to revisit some great albums of days gone by.

Robin Williams: Live 2002

Saw this on the shelf at the library today and decided to give it a whirl. I know this is not a music album (and most definitely not normal audiophile fare), but the man is definitely out of his mind.

Just came back from New Orleans & picked this up at the Louisiana Music Factory in the French Quarter. It's been their #1 seller for the past 3 months... Excellent, every track a little different... Dynamic as hell & makes you want to jump & shout!
