Vinyl Is Selling So Well That It’s Getting Hard to Sell Vinyl

An interesting NY Times article on the current state of vinyl in the mass market. Probably nothing that we haven't thought of already as vinyl and audiophiles, but it was an interesting read none the less

The title is a bit misleading in that the content is actually about how difficult it is for manufacturers to keep up with demand, and how frustrating it is for artists <especially smaller, relatively unknown artists> to obtain product from manufacturers. Some artists must wait more than six months for their orders to be fulfilled.

Some boutique LP manufacturers are using 50+ year-old machines which cut records at a snail's pace. High volume manufactuers tend to produce LPs for bigger names first.

I'll see if I can share the article. Try this:   https://www.nytimes.com/2021/10/21/arts/music/vinyl-records-delays.html?unlocked_article_code=AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACEIPuonUktbfqohlSFUZAibcR8Q86RibnvnEh6I9gG76aTKYQjFYw_9QD4WE8lbWI6p_Yt95lxKqeOh8Cp59Dvpj0r0YeEV3VwijppbDycVefylq84v2UD1mhdeQDeEytDXmM2P8eOsnm-Dh5UneOTPrS7WfhSN6XHttoZJjfVms3HcM1_2FRrYzgo8iqK9nUpNqRj4AZD2Jvu3oCHh9OtaFbxLa42omSr0TGGGTzZPHteV2IEgFAknGTXh8_W4_9NpbXdsWN679JBMqE9HsvT_rD8B_T2jyjNmzBqpMwA&smid=url-share
