Very cool. I'd like to hear it if you find it.

Try this one for a tasty sample of Metheny:

I have heard of that but never heard it.

Now playing:

Scratchy 6 eye mono. I like the original mono compared to 70s 2LP stereo compilation of greatest hits. I have played this half dozen times in the last couple days. Addictive.

I have a minty mono 6-Eye pressing Rich.  They are fairly plentiful and well worth looking for.  I bought mine for about $15.  That's peanuts really given the quality of the music.

This is a DSD128 file from 2L Music.  Superb recording and very interesting reading of one of my favorite works from Edvard Grieg.

Thanks Jerome.

I also like that Mahler set, a very good cycle, recommended to me by Tyson on AC a few years ago.

So how do you play the DSD file? What player software do you use? Your new USB DAC? Thanks

Hi Rich,

The Bertini Mahler cycle is beautifully recorded and the performances are superb throughout.  This set is a terrific example of 16bit/44.1KHz done right.

JRiver Media Center 18 supports DSD64 playback via DoP.

It does not work with DSD128.  However, Teac supplies a basic player that will stream both DSD64 and DSD128 directly to the DAC.

Cool, thanks. Another good feature of that Teac DAC.

JRiver will probably add higher resolution DSD, they are pretty good about filling demand for features.

Metheny has just released an interpretive album based on John Zorn's Book of Angels. The reviews say it taps into Metheny's lyrical playing but still channels Zorn's compositions. Most Zorn, for me, isn;t very approachable but almost all of Metheny is. This could be a nice album.

For some very approachable Zorn I have this one I've listened to this morning called "O'o". In fact, I don't think Zorn blows a note on his horn across the whole album.

Laugh and the world laughs with you. Cry and you'll have to blow your nose.

Brahms Symphony No. 4.  I would love to snag these on minty UK Columbia/SAX vinyl pressings but they are a bit rare and quite expensive.
