The whole reason I have Audio Nervosa is because I want to get closer to the music.  I've always felt the equipment was a necessary evil; without it there is no music.  Yet without music, there is no need for the equipment.

I wish I could get the sound quality I have without all of the boxes and cables.

To me Audio Nervosa, the condition, has little to do with music. I often find myself more lost in or into the music on the lo-fi system in my car than I ever do on my home system. Getting close to the music is more about state of mind than presentation...
Happiness is when your system overcomes your nervosa ;)

To me, Audio Nervosa is the inability to get lost in the music due to obsessive anxiety about the sound quality.

I have the same experience Barry, my Honda van has a very well tuned stereo that I enjoy immensely, even mp3s played through cassette adapter! SQ problems are easily ignored, and it can really step it up when needed. But I can hear the resolution is missing and lots of 2nd order distortion from the cheap paper speakers. But it does music goooooooood!

How about we just deal with the music in this thread. Esoteric threads about the hardware used to reproduce the music have their own place(s) already.

Yes I did it. just wanted to go out in style and fill up the "Recent post " sections. It is time to move on. Unfortunately this forum just does not do it for me anymore. I think its name should be changed to Music Nervosa. I used to enjoy coming here and reading and discussing audio related topics but in the past few months it has been over run with music. no disrespect to anyone you have the right to post what you want and I have the right to read what I want.

Thanks to Carl and Rich for having me here and I hope you appreciated my wanting to keep audio alive here but it has just gone in a different direction for me , one that does not hold an importance to most.

I guess the same is for the NY Audio Rave. I will go the same route as Levi and others. It was great to meet the many friends I have met but it seems to have lost it's fizz. Maybe 1 day it will be what it used to be and I will return , but onward ho. You have my numbers and email address if you want to stay in touch.

Take care guys and I hope one day to return once I can get from this place what I used to.

Thanks

Evan, I certainly respect your wanting to read about gear, but I just don't understand A) what music posts have to do with or detract from that and B) what your bailing on this forum is going to accomplish.

This is an open forum and any of it's members can post about whatever they want at any time. Having more posts regarding music does nothing to stop posts on other topics. If the posts on gear are dwindling it is because people are initiating equipment posts, not because other people are talking about music. I totally agree that you have the right to read what you want, but why not just ignore the posts in the music sections. If you the new posts section under quick links  all of the posts in this thread will be covered under a single line item not matter how many of them are made, making them very easy to ignore. If your favorite radio station changes formats and moves towords a type of music you don't care for you don't rip the radio out of your car, you simply ignore that station and listen to a different one. Why wouldn't that concept apply here? Seems to me that the only person you are hurting by bailing out is yourself. But if that's what you feel you have to do then good luck, we'll miss you.

As for the Rave group, just give it some time and it will most likely come around again. About three years ago the AudioSyndrome group was falling apart we had to beg for people to hold meetings and most of those were starting to be very poorly attended. yet in the last year or so thing have totally turned around and the group is going full steam ahead again. I have been involve with the Syndrome for about 25 years now and have seen this cycle happen several times. hings get bleak and then all of a sudden everyone gets interested again. Sit tight, I'm sure it will come back.

I had a neighbor come over tonight to listen to "this tube amp I've heard so much about" and was not able to post up what we were playing in real-time, so much to Evan's chagrin here are the backed up posts from earlier today:
