Lets see what madness J. has foisted upon me. Listening to this while watching the game muted - Jets, meet the Jets.

The way the Jets are playing tonight you might be better off killing the video as well.  ](*,)

Well, being a Pats fan, rather enjoying the Jets travails.

Enjoyed West Side Story even more.  :thumb:

Let's see if we can go 2 for 2, something the Jets seem unable to do tonight.

Standards In Silhouette
Stan Kenton | Format: Vinyl

Unlike the album cover here, I have a mono pressing.

Bette Midler: The Divine Miss M

MFSL LP

The is the first release I have picked up from MoFi's new Silver Label series and I have to say, I am very underwhelmed.  The SQ was OK, but the vinyl itself was only fair. Physically it looked OK, but sonically it was full of clicks and pops, more than I would be happy putting up with from even a stock pressing. Even the cover and the inner cardboard disc folder had a thin and flimsy feel.
If this is what the Silver Label is going to be about they will be able to count me out. I sure hope the quality of this pressing is the exception rather than the rule.

Frank Sinatra Sings for Only the Lonely

MoFi LP

From the MoFi Sinatra Box Set

That's much better. Vintage Sinatra sound and vintage MoFi SQ.

IF anyone has been looking for one of these long out of print sets there is a guy selling one on A'gon for only $400. Not cheap, but also not that much considering you are getting 16 MoFi albums plus a GeoDisc.

Coleman Hawkins, Lester Young & Ben Webster: The Big Three

Doctor Jazz LP

Picked this sealed copy out of the dollar bin this weekend. I think in this case The Big Three means great performers, great music and great SQ. The vinyl is orders of magnitude quieter than the Bette Midler MoFi I picked up.

Simon and Garfunkel: Bridge Over Troubled Water

Columbia Masterworks Gold CD

AS good of a find as The Big Three LP was, I think this has to be the steal of the weekend. I found this mint gold CD in the clearance bin for only $4.  :thumb:

Superb SQ

The Charlie Watts Quintet: Warm & Tender

CD

Nice album. I once heard Charlie Watts quoted as saying he plays Rock tp make money, but Jazz to make music.

The only (small) quibble I have with thiks CD is that it comes in one of those "environmentally friendly" jewel cases. It does a nice job in cutting down on landfill waste, bujt is a royal painn in the @ss to get open.  #-o

THE COMPREHENSIVE KENTON - CAPITOL - 1979 MONOPHONIC
STAN KENTON (Author) | Format: Vinyl

A 2 lp set, great SQ, 'WALLY' in the dead wax, this is the same sound engineer who did some of the better Beatles things with Capitol.

Well I have to give a shoutout to Jerome, he hipped me to Stan Kenton on the Crackhouse thread, I quickly found 4 albums, and became a Kenton fan. I especially liked Standards In Silhouette, however side 2 is a little dinged, I'll have to find another copy as I prefered side 2, the last song especially.  :thumb:
