Listening to LIVE music.
At Jones Beach for the Moody Blues concert with StereoNut, Triode Pete and BobM.
Hope you boys had a great time !!
Outside of the break in the middle where Mother nature decided to dump about 2 inches of rain on us in 15 minutes, we had a ball. (As soon as I felt the first few drops I made a beeline to some empty seats that were under an overhang, so we got to keep relatively dry. :thumb )
The band waited out the storm and then returned and put of an great second half. You could tell they really appreciated and were charge up by the fact that most everybody stuck it out and weathered the storm.
The only thing that bothered me a bit was that the vocal mics were very dry, with virtually no reverb in them. While at 70+ they guys could have used a little bit of the cover that reverb would have provided their vocals, that was not the real problem. The dry vocals were just not true to the way the original recordings were done. If you listen to songs like Tuesday Afternoon or Nights in White Satin, the vocals had a kind of phasey echoy sound to them. This dry vocals changed the songs not so much from a SQ point of view but more from an artistic point of view as it changed the feel of the song. I'm not sure why they did it that was , especially since it could have been fixed with the twist of a dial.
I still enjoyed the show and I know this is kind of a nit picky thing, but picking nits is what we do here.
