Jethro Tull: Aqualung - 40th Anniversary Special Edition

Chrysalis 2 CD Set

Well this is the first "Special Edition" That I wold consider trely special. The SQ of the new stereo mix done for this release is truely outstanding. I have three other qualung CDs (original US release. the 25th Anniversary edition and a UK pressing) and this just blows away all of them. I just had time to give it a quick listen against the Classic Records LP and it hangs right in there with the vinyl. I'm not sure which would be bettterr after further critical listening, but is is really close. I would love to hear the 180g vinyl pressing of this new stereo mix, but as of now it is only available as part of the new box set (LP, 2 CDs, DVD, Blu-Ray, Book - $150.) I have heard rumors that it will eventually be released as a stand alone LP, but haven't seen anything yet. Hopefully soon (but then again teh same rumor mill swore that the 180g Vinyl versions of the Beatle remasters would be on the street in the Spring of 2010 and we're still waiting for those too.  :( )

Mastered by Steve Wilson of Porcupine Tree fame. He also did the remastering of the recent King Crimson remixes. He is the acclaimed and current king of remasters, especially 5.1.

And for those who don't know, he mixed and mastered the forthcoming Thick As a Brick II (yes, a follow-up to the original album, all new music) currently on presale at Amazon.
Laugh and the world laughs with you. Cry and you'll have to blow your nose.

Hey Robin - they have a show that appears on PBS from time to time in HD with a 5.1 soundtrack.

I thought I had recorded it once, but now I don't see it on my server, must of been a hallucination.

Or you can pick up one of their concert DVDs on Amazon for as little as $1.53 for a used copy.

The second one is also available on Blu-Ray if you are so equipped.

Just be careful of the dealer who currently has the lowest price listed, Zoverstocks. I have ordered several CDs from him before and never had a problem (His shipping is slow because he is located in the UK, but he had a bunch of stuff that was very hard to find elsewhere at a reasonable price.) I wouldn't hesitate to buy any CDs from him, but being a UK dealer I be nervous that the DVD he was selling might encoded for Region 2 and would not work in a US DVD player.

I bought one CD from Zoverstocks it took about 2 weeks to arrive and then although it looked good it didn't play thru.

Dylan Sneed--No Worse for the Wear

Local artist here in SC...Singer/Songwriter who writes intimate autobiographical songs.  Despite all of that, his music is lovely and melodic, as well as instantly interesting and accessible.  Yes, he plays a sometimes tinkly guitar, but he uses it to great effect.
