Compadres (Recorded Live in Mexico)
Dave Brubeck Trio (Author), Gerry Mulligan (Author) | Format: Vinyl

Recorded 1967 on the Columbia Label and is catalog number CS 9704. Never released to CD. Has the 'Brubeck' sound, but with a Getz-like Samba sax flavor by new addition Gerry Mulligan.

No samples to link to, sorry. You'll just have to believe me, it's good.

Yes, I am big into prog, but not really the whole Canterbery scene I'm afraid.

Right now I'm listening to the new Steve Wilson solo LP - Grace for Drowning
- This is definitely not porcupine Tree. Far more ethereal, setting a somber mood, then exploding with metal guitar, or some big percussion. This is not radio play by any means. This is sit down and take it all in music, and really should probably be accompanied by a video by Lasse Hole (his main graphics guy for many years now).

Oh yeah, this may just be the best prog release of the year for me too, and I've probably checked out 15-20 new prog releases this year, so far.

Laugh and the world laughs with you. Cry and you'll have to blow your nose.

Listening to Christmas music on the radio, first time this year after we put up the tree today. The ads are killing me.  :duh  Hoping my favorite Christmas song will come on soon... "Let It Snow" by Gloria Estafan. Every year I hear it less and less often. I need to buy the mp3 from Amazon.

This is a good example of what Chuck Mangione could have done with his music if he had more of a Brazilian flair and he actually incorporated good improvization into his pieces.

Minty Clef deep groove mono pressing.  Flip Phillips doesn't get enough recognition IMO, despite him being featured prominently in Norman Granz's JATP tours.  A great, though unheralded, tenor man.  This album has a nice mix of ballades and up-tempo swing tunes.  This is something of a rare record.

. I've always been a big fan of Caravan and this is in the same vein. I've been on a hunt for this LP and today I found it at my local haunt.

I just sold my minty LP copies of "Hatfield and the North" and "The Rotters Club" on ebay.  I got surprisingly little, <$20 each for them.  The guy that bought them actually apologized that he won the auction for such a low bid.

I like their music, but in small doses.  It's a bit frenetic and self congratulatory for me.
