A great deep groove mono pressing on Pacific.

Disc 1.  This is essential listening for anyone who likes Mel Tormé or enjoys great jazz singing.  You couldn't find a more sympathetic accompanist than George Shearing, and together they give us some of the best performances of their careers.  Unfortunately Concorde discontinued this set.  If you can find one I highly recommend it.

Had to take Song X off after 1 side, free jazz not my cup of tea.

If I want something that I don't get I'll listen to Bitches Brew. In fact, since it's the start of a new month, lets;

Miles Davis: Bitches Brew (180g) 2LP

I suppose that means I won't be recommending Evan Parker...

or Peter Brötzmann to you...

Both rank among my favorite skwonker/squealer sax players.

I once showed a friend of mine the Brötzmann clip and he commented that the bassist's playing would improve considerably if he traded his bow in for a hacksaw.

 :roll:

Free jazz is not my thing, at least not at this time.

One good thing, for the 1st time I can sit through all of Bitches Brew. In comparison to Song X, it's like top 40 bubblegum music.  :lol:

But I'm distraught, I dropped the first record, reached out to grab it and gouged side 2 with my finger nails.  :duh

Should have let it drop, at 180g on a berber carpet, most likely nothing would have happened.

Sorry to hear that Gene.  I once trashed a rather rare record in much the same way.

A buddy of mine had a record get away from him as he was lifting it off the turntable and broke the cantilever on his expensive cart.

Thanks Bill - got heat yet?

It's getting a little nippy down here in the flatlands, I can only imagine what it's like up yonder.
