The monoblock bug is biting
« on: December 03, 2007, 10:14:46 AM »
I have been really happy with my Music Reference RM200 amp, but have been getting the bug to try out a set of monoblocks. A couple of amps have come up for sale that have caught my eye:

Dodd 2nd generation 120 watt monoblocks
Consonance Cyber 800 78 watt monoblocks

These would be used to power my RAW HT8 speakers.

Am I crazy for messing with a good thing :?:

The RM200 is a classic amp. Does it right. I would leave well enough alone. Buy another RM200 and have modified to be monoblocks. You'll get a bigger soundstage better imaging and more dynamics. Tonality will remain the same so no need to add anything else.

Bill Baker has a nice set of ASL Hurricanes just traded in or you could try the Bella Extreme 100's.  I am really enjoying the 3205 so far :)  Tom

Too many tubes in the Hurricanes and the Bella Extreme 100's are out of my price range.

I could bring my sig. 70.2s over.  They're not tubes though.

Man, I really like these amps.  They're not this'r'that'r anything else really - just smooth rolling.

I need to get over to your place to see the new stuff anyway Mike, which is everything but the foundation as far as I can tell.   :D
