* Trey's dad singing and playing ukelele - possibly solo - may have been soundcheck or the very tail end of an opening set
** performed three times, first as Anarchy, second as "Nazi Trustes" and last as "Killer African Bees"

Notes: If you are a fan of sound quality, you may want to pass this one over - there is a fair amount of tape hiss and it's taken from an analog of
unknown generations. And it's 1986.
That said if you a phan of history, you'll want to stay tuned.
This has not circulated in a lossless format before, and it's the best copy I could locate. Consider it a gap filler until an upgrade surfaces.
First off, it's the final circulating gig with Jeff Holdsworth, and one of very few examples of Phish as a 5 man band.
Earth Day at UVM. The gig was likely performed outdoors.
Trey's dad opens the show playing and singing, possibly just a soundcheck, or possibly the tail end of an opening set.
There was deck pausing done between almost all of the songs - but the jams seem to be intact. I notated the tape cuts.
The jam at the end of Alumni had an abrupt cut - so I opted for a fade out.

The Green Dolphin Street Demo is a post Bivouac Juan, pre White Tape demo that included some of the same material as the Bivouac Tape.
It came labeled to me exactly as that: Green Dolphin Street Demo 1985.
A few of these songs are earlier mixes of material that ended up on The White Tape.
Since it's precise origin is unknown - I hope nobody objects - expecially since the sound quality is by far inferior to the released version of the
White Tape and there are subtle variations.
It was likely a mix of material recorded on 4-track in NJ with Bivouac and in Burlington VT in 1985.
Any questions regarding this material - feel free to drop a line to me at taperwayne@gmail.com
Enjoy!

Thank you, Nick. I did. The human ear can tolerate that decibel level safely if the exposure is short duration. This is my source of that track:

https://aircraftrecords.com/products/supersonics-just-jets

There is a hidden benefit so the speak when playing at this decibel level, which is that if something in the room (listening environment) is going to resonate, it will. If a resonance sound is heard, corrective action can be taken.

Interestingly, there is another thread on this forum here https://www.audionervosa.com/index.php?topic=9023.msg110463#msg110463 where I stated " I also had a bad experience of my own". It was by virtue of using this track that I discovered spikes are no good.

Welcome to Volume 45 of our master series featuring the master recordings of dime member "tapetyrant". The series will predominately feature captures in the Northeast and Southern California areas. We will touch on multiple genres with a strong focus on Jazz Fusion, New Wave and Rock.

Tapetyrant was an active taper in the 1980's and much of the 1990's before, like many of us, hanging up the mics. What he captured during that time is uniformly excellent quality and his master tapes have been safely stored, the first batch are in pristine condition. Some shows may circulate from lower generation copies but most have remained uncirculated until now and have never circulated directly from the masters.

Prior to DAT, the heavy lifting was entirely done by a Sony D5 with NAK 300's and taping was serious business, acquiring the best seats possible and working to keep neighbors in check.

We once again find TapeTyrant plying his craft in one of his favorite venues to tape, Pier 84 with another excellent Joan Armatrading capture.

This is our 3rd Joan Armatrading release and another stellar performance supporting her 1986 release "Sleight Of Hand".

Thanks as always to Goody for the invaluable pitch guidance.

Continued thanks to "tapetyrant" for doing such a great job capturing these important shows, for reaching out and entrusting me to present his excellent work for all to enjoy for decades to come. We are indebted to his generosity (tapers don't let those tapes and your hard work get lost to the ages, there are plenty of folks to get in touch with here to help get them out, we're all working to leave no tape behind).

Artwork and samples included.

06. Luiza
07. De perdidos al río
08. Homeland
09. Faith
10. Program outro

Omar Avital, bass
Aaron Goldberg, piano
Marc Miralta, drums

Note: Broadcast date was 2005-11-06.  Additional notes related to Japanese content

1) The program format of “Session 505” usually began with the featured artist playing their own interpretation of Duke Ellington’s composition, “C Jam Blues.” Session 505 ran for 494 broadcasts from 1999-03-13 to 2010-03-28 with Moko Ogawa as the program announcer.

2) After C Jam Blues, program announcer Moko Ogawa introduced the OAM Trio who were making their first trip to Japan. The trio members hail from America, Spain and Israel, and formed OAM in 1998 after meeting in New York City. Aaron Goldberg from Boston, studied at The New School in New York, and after graduating from Harvard University in 1996, began jazz in earnest, playing with Joshua Redman, Wynton Marsalis and others. Bassist Omar Avital came to New York from Israel and has played with many such as Roy Haynes, Kenny Garrett, and Joshua Redman. From 1995, he formed his own group, as well as composing original music. Drummer Marc Miralta came to New York from Barcelona, and after study at the Berklee College of Music, has played with many such as Pat Metheny, Gary Burton, and Art Farmer. The trio name “OAM” is made up of the first letter of the band members’ first names. Ogawa stated that this trio, though each member is a co-leader, results in a tight unity and unique sound blending the essence of North America, the Middle East, and the Mediterranean.

3) Track ten contains a recap of the song titles performed; Ogawa’s impression of the rehearsal and daily practice that gives unity to the band; and closes with the upcoming schedule of performances and how to apply for tickets.

Enjoy!

101 out of nowhere
102 one moment worth years
103 i'm in a dancing mood
104 three to get ready

note=Dave Brubeck Quartet:
note=Dave Brubeck (piano), Paul Desmond (alto saxophone),
note=Eugene Wright (bass), Joe Morello (drums)

note=performance was probably 30-oct-1966 at New Victoria Theatre, see info2.txt

note=boot CD info:

note=uploaded to shnflac.net (lossless legs) bit torreent jan-2023

note=torrent info:
note=downloaded from http://www.dimeadozen.org bit torrent mar-2008
note=contains hiss, but sonically is very nice (would be quality=10 w/o hiss)
note=FM Broadcast (BBC radio broadcast) > unknown lineage > flac

note=removed glitch at t04 03:08 & 03:25 (inaudible)
note=removed glitch at t05/01:42 (still audible, but much less so) & 06:19
note=removed dropout at t10/06:45.45 to 06:45.70

note=wav > flac via flac v1.2.1, wav > CDR via Nero v6 Ultra Edition
note=all digital work on Windows XP

comparing versions:
i prefer the boot CD overall, torrent has slightly better high end,
but the boot was not heavy handed on noise reduction plus the torrent
has bad continuity between songs (fades out between most, plus had pops
and other glitches)

note=on HDD & 1xCDR

davebrubeckjazz.com notes (about boot CD):

A complete previously unissued 1966 concert by the Dave Brubeck Quartet,
recorded in London.

The material for the show consisted of versions of classic songs like
“Take Five”, as well as tunes rarely recorded by the quartet, such
as “Out of Nowhere” and the group’s only existing live recording
of Dave Brubeck’s own composition, “Softly, William, Softly”.
