Symphony Pro PS-1 Harmonic Resonator
« on: May 03, 2021, 07:58:31 AM »
Audiogon just sent me an e-mail promoting a 50% off offer on this piece. Any one here ever actually hear one in use?

https://add-powr.com/shop/ols/products/symphony-pro-ps1?utm_campaign=ADDPowr_20210430&utm_content=coh_addpowr_april_resend_sale&utm_medium=email&utm_source=zaius&zm64_id=d2hhbGVzaGlwMUBhb2wuY29t

Is it legit... is it snake oil... is it LIVE or Memorex!?!  :D

No, haven’t heard of it. Navigated their website a bit. Can’t say I understand much of it. I did note their most expensive product is this …
Sorcer X4 AC Harmonic Resonator for $3,999.95

Years ago, I believe I used a Bedini product that claimed to do similar things. I don’t remember what it was called. It did change the presentation a bit. But this all goes back 25 to 30 years…

Harmonics superimposed on a fixed AC voltage of 60 Hz is by definition waveform distortion.  Is all distortion bad?  Not necessarily when it comes to musical enjoyment.  SE tube even order harmonic distortion adds a fullness that can be pleasing to the ear/brain.

I'm guessing that this is the purpose of these devices.  Don't know for sure...

Don't be surprised if you experience a decline in health with adding lots of stuff to AC line.

Wow.  A resonator.  I had one in my 1969 Torino in high school that worked like a champ.  Girls loved it, and would play along with the old "It sounds better in the back seat" line... well, some would.

I think as long as it is kept at a low level with even order (consonant) harmonics in the lower end of the range , < 20KHz it will probably be OK. There is a lot of research in HF, VHF, UHF and GHz realms with an emphasis on dissonant content as to being very, very bad on the human body, neurocortex and nervous system.

The longer and more I learn about our greatest servant the scarier it becomes.

If you turn it on and whales start beaching themselves you should probably turn it off again and ask for a refund.

I've not really been aware of it other than effects from high power lines.
I used to quail hunt on a big ranch where the rancher had run a barbed wire fence directly under the high power line.  Every time we crossed that fence, it would give you a pretty good shock induced from the field above it.
There's a lot of stray fields that we move through 24/7.

I saw a TV show a few years back about high voltage power lines where a guy stood under one of those line held 2 four foot florescent tube up over his head and they lit up from nothing but he induce field of the tower.

Not to long after I saw that show my wife and I looked at a house that was about 150  yards from a high voltage tower. Can you say deal breaker?

I've lived under power lines all my life and I've never had any untoward aftereffects.

SLOTH! I loved Matuszak.
So those power lines must be in California then eh.
