Jacintha - Here's to Ben
One of the best late night listening albums I know...Smooth vocals, classic interpretation...Georgia...Somewhere Over the Rainbow...Stardust...Sweet...
One of my top of the pile discs as well. Not only is it very enjoyable musically, but it is a great test disc as well. Danny boy is one of my go-to cuts when evaluating equipment. This one has it all. Good bass line , nice vocals, a sax solo that shine a light on tonality and resolution in their respective frequency bands. And it is a small combo with very well defined instrument placement that instantly shows changes in sound-staging when equipment is swapped, tweaks are made or speaker placement is moved. I also find it very useful to listen to the echo return on the vocals. As I made positive changes to the system the echo sounded more and more like it was coming from a specific point in space as opposed to just somewhere in the back. All this and good music too. This one is a winner.
BTW I Don't know what format you were listening to this on. I originally got this album on and XRCD pressing and thought thought that was great sounding .... until I got my hands on the 45RPM 180g 2 LP set, which just blew away any of the CD pressings I have heard.
