Yeah, it's some good Schiit. The AA is a nice DAC and has a somewhat warmer presentation vs the Bifrost, but the Bifrost is cleaner, clearer and more detailed. I have A/B'ed them back and forth and the AA gear and Trends USB>SPDIF converter are up for sale. The differences aren't night and day, but it is apparent the Schiit is in a different league vs the AA. IMO, that's saying a lot for the AA gear though, it's almost 20 years old, and I'd guess the design goals were for something warmer and more laid back to give audiophiles a break from some of the harsh early digital recordings. I have compared my AA DAC vs a friend's Dragonfly DAC and the AA was definitely superior in that matchup, but that's not surprising considering the Dragonfly doesn't even have its own power supply.
My goals for my source are accurate and neutral, and the Schiit delivers. This is a great deal for the money and if Schiit's next DAC (Gungnir) for a few bills more is clearly superior to the Bifrost I'll be saving my money.
Also, I did install a Create Audio fuse and made a powercord for it using Wattgate connectors, both were a noticeable improvement. Next are the RCA jacks, I found some DH Labs copper RCA jacks for $24/pair.
