Was looking on Ebay and found a full DAC board using the AK4497EQ DAC. This is one of the IC's that offers selectable filters, and the board has jumpers for selection. Does up to 32bit/384KHz PCM and DSD256.
Awhile back found an XMOS XU208 based USB to I2S Bus receiver board that directly connects to the AK4497 DAC board for playback.
Time to give it a try with the heaphone rig with balanced drive, as the board has balanced outputs.
