Great find at the local Salvation Army Thrift Store for $1.  More mono magic.  :D

How is this album musically? I have always found Montovani to be too much like elevator music, but from what I can see on the coiver this seems like an attempt at playing some more serious Classical music.

This performance is with a full orchestra, and struck me as a serious, largely successful effort to do justice to the works.

I rather enjoyed it.  Musically it was very fulfilling and sonically it was outstanding.  The recording has incredible dynamics and is definitely worth having if you can snag a copy.

Have you guys ever heard any albums by Les Baxter. He composed a lot of that pseudo-Hawaiian, space, African and other exotic music you heard in those 1950-60's movies. All made up from his head, nothing is authentic as I understand it. Lots of output here and the sound (of the one compilation I've heard: The Fabulous Sounds of Les Baxter: Strings, Guitars, Voices!) is outstanding.
Laugh and the world laughs with you. Cry and you'll have to blow your nose.
