Schiit turntable
« on: September 06, 2019, 04:14:25 AM »
Hi all.
Schiit just introduce a turntable.
I'm the first one to be surprised.
Schiit is in the electronic components business, not analog turntable ?
Well, look like it's not an entry level TT.
Look nice, well, not what I call according to my standars : Nice looking,
but still, nice.
Will they sell a lot ?
Maybe not, but they will sell some,
hope for them they can get a return on their investment.

That's a lot of Schiit. For someone who wants a complete Schiit system it makes sense. So consider Schiit before you buy your shit.  :thumb:

I see a couple things that are problems IMO, but in general it looks great. The real question is how it sounds.

The most simple mod is to ground the motor's enclosure to safety (earth) ground. But it'd be way the hell better to have a grounded shield on the power cable up to the TT, that then connects to the next cables (to the motor) grounded shied that then connects to the motor outside. I wouldn't connect this ground to the TT itself.

$699 is a tough space to play in. There are already several nice tables out there in that price range that are made by companies with a long history and good reputation in the turntable market.

It is also a weird kind of price point in that it is a good bit higher than most mass fi people would be willing to spend for a table (especially since that price does not include a cartridge) and most audiophiles would be looking for and willing to spend more for a better table.
Remember, it's all about the music........

Here's an interesting alternative to the Schiit in the same price range. I'd probably take it over the Schiit.

That is one COOL TT. I would buy it just for looks alone. My only concern would be warping. Thanks Folsom.

It appears that it needs some work yet.

Should not the dealer perform the set up. We do for Kuzma sales ???

I doubt you can get someone from Schiit to fly to your house for $700.

The Tri-art isn't glued internally in such a way that it should ever be able to warp.

Realized they sell direct, my bad. But that would be some good Schiit.
