Title: Rythmic Servo Subs
Post by: DRN on May 06, 2023, 02:50:33 PM
I'll start a new thread as not to intrude on the Dual Sub comments thread.

I don't ask for advice often.

Looking to get the Rythmic Servo F12 Se (1 not stereo) for Fritz Carrera Be. No 15" sub needed 12" should work well.
Room size 12X16 all treated 6 GIK panels. Not looking for slam bam BS no home theater.
Well integrated KISS principal.

Any experience with these?
I know I know, I can't leave well enough alone. It sounds excellent as is.

IMHO, a Rythmik F12 SE is an excellent choice. While I have not paired my F12G with my Fritz speakers (not Carreras), I have paired it with several other pairs of speakers. I would say that I'm mostly content with the results. I've never felt the need to move up to a 15" sub, but then again, I'm using it for music 90+ percent of the time. There have been times when I pondered adding a second F12G, but I have not yet succumbed to the temptation.

I really like my Rythmik sub. I bought an L12 model for our son a couple years ago, and it has worked out well for his beginner's system. [I'm trying to get him hooked on audio, but he's resisted all temptations so far.]

Hope this is helpful.

I don't know how many systems I've heard with Rythmik subs over the years.  They were all excellent.
Years ago I was Danny Richie's place as he was designing the crossover to his first model with integrated Rythmik subs.  At the time I told him that I'd never heard a speaker reproduce the bottom end of a concert grand piano so realistically.
I have large line source speakers that are accurate into the 20Hz range without subs.  But in my smaller system, I use a pair of Rythmic in an open baffle.   I've not heard anything close to their accuracy.

I imagine my dual sub thread is the one you’re referring to… In all my research, Rhythmik subs always came up as worthy contenders. In all honesty, I chose Hsu because they are also well regarded, and Rythmik just had too many choices.
I was looking for a sealed sub, Hsu fit the bill, so off I went. I’m sure the Rhytmik is also a fine choice. Enjoy it.

I own two pair of F12's a pair in two different systems and they are excellent subs, the best I have ever tried.  Also ran a pair with Carrera Be's and they were a great match if you keep the crossover and sub volume down.  Never tried them with just one sub but I expect you can make it work with careful placement and measurement.  If the the single sub only is due to cost let recommend you look into the RSL Speedwoofer 10 Mk II.  I ran them with the Carrera's too in a second home and again an excellent pairing plus you can buy a pair for less than the cost of the single F12SE.  If you want to stick with the Rythmik then you can't go wrong there either.

Thanks guys! I trust you guys more than reviews, say thank you.
I have been doing this for over 50 years I'm old so we are in common.

I am using Jack's Fritzzzz's. I Like them very much and do fill my treated room very satisfying , at high 70's to 85 db there abouts playing. Very different (refined) from my Usher CP6371 I had for over 10 yrs time. The Sound Anchor stands tightened the bottom end and imaging. It took 2 months last year to get them but very good.

I had a HSU VTF 2 down firing design in the past in a larger room and just over powered the room. 80lbs and too damn big. Had a built in Amp problem replaced and sold after warranty fix.

REL seems to be flooding the market, don't want the down firing drone design (iTx series), known to walk a bit on the floor during use. A no no. Easy fix but not saying much for their cabinet bracing?

I will give Rythmik a call they are closed till May 25. All I'm after is to fill in the lower end extension. It sounds like that is an easy choice.

NO bang and boom here !

DRN,
I am using the Rythmik Audio servo amps with my OB H-Frame servo sub stacks.  I have the HX300 Class D amps now discontinued and the A370XLR3 Class AB amps.  I use them with planars from 190Hz and lower.   Will not go back to standard ported or sealed box servo subs.

Hope your journey goes well!

You won't get better bass for less than really stupid money than any of these can provide:

Impact, tuneful and a great company.

Full disclosure:  Danny is a great friend that makes world class products.

All good advice.

I need/want things on the smaller side.
No more big hulking speakers. Room is only 12X16. I really sympathize people that have to use the living room but if you integrate HT I guess you have no choice.

Thanks to everyone!

I will post my thoughts when this goes through.

the Rythmic sounds very good. Using the Default settings supplied by Rythmic.
Much more to adjust and position but I hear no room nodes, in heavily treated room.

What outputs from my CM2 do I use?
Fixed or variable? Using variable now.

How much time do you have on them?  It has been my experience that the Rythmik and GR drives need at least 200 hours to really open up and translate the inner detail that makes effortless bass sound "right."  Brian did a good thing when he developed the sensing coil approach to control.

Yes, I have read about the 200 hours in their literature on site.
I have only 8 hours on the sub. it came in Fri. My back is killing me!!

Variable or fixed output from the amp?

Fixed.  It is a lot easier to just dial in the sub instead of juggling levels.  I'm always in favor of eliminating variables instead of chasing both ends.

As it loosens up, the apparent speed will get a lot better and inner detail will start to flesh out.

Thx! That is where it is connected "Fixed". I thought the same, less in the path.
I'm sure I'll have more questions. You guys are TOPS!!!!!!!

Fritz Be go down to 35Htz so crossing over at around 50Htz.

There's not a lot of musical info below 35Hz.  You might want to set it around 100 or higher for break in purposes, even if it may sound a bit unbalanced.  Then after a few days, set it more to your liking.
