Title: Video file editor
Post by: richidoo on December 02, 2011, 10:49:48 AM
Can anybody recommend a free video editor software?

The only feature I need is conversion of mp4 videos to smaller video resolution, so I can publish my Flip vids on youtube. The Flip software doesn't shrink well.

Windows Movie Maker only saves to WMV file format. Mira doesn't reduce resolution.

Thanks
Rich

Hi Rich,

I've used Any Video Converter (http://download.cnet.com/Any-Video-Converter/3000-2194_4-10661456.html?tag=mncol;7) with pretty good success. Lots of options.

I asked my daughter, who is a digital art major. She says she doesn't know of the free stuff since she gets the Adobe suite for free at her school. That is an expensive piece of software for others though, I'm afraid.

Sorry.

Thanks for asking her, Bob. I asked Carlman, he uses real software too.

I tried AnyVideoConverter, but the shrunk videos wouldn't open in chrome or Windows Media, but do in Qtime. I'll try uploading to see if they work in Youtube.

I am just using the flip software's youtube uploader for now, it gets them published but can't control settings.

Rich,

What format are you converting to? I've converted files and uploaded them both to YouTube and Vimeo... it "should" work.

FWIW... supported formats at You Tube (http://www.google.com/support/youtube/bin/answer.py?answer=55744)
