Joining him in this tribute to the guitar, the all-star line-up includes George Benson, BB King, Slash, Steve Lukather, John Scofield, Joe Bonamassa, Robert Cray and Vince Gill among many other superstars. Blending rock, blues, jazz, acoustic, country and classical, they come together for a seamless project that promises to take the listener on a musical journey and exploration of the guitar. Also featured on vocals are BB King, Robert Cray, Vince Gill, Keb' Mo', Taj Majal, Joe Bonamassa and Jonny Lang. Debuting on this release is sixteen-year-old guitarist Shon Boublil who was the grand prize winner of Lee Ritenour's Yamaha Six String Theory Guitar Competition. (from Amazon)

Ahhh - so it was just side one of KoB that was out of pitch. I wonder if that's true of the DualDisk version I have?

Nice to see this in the article, while listing the equipment used in the mastering session that - "Tim de Paravicini analog equipment" was used. I have the EAR 834P phono pre he designed, and as the tubes break in, I'm enjoying it more and more. Of course, it's forcing me to seriously consider replacing my 30 year old Denon tt with something newer.

I see Amazon has new copies of the paperback version of "Kind of Blue: The Making of the Miles Davis Masterpiece" for less than $3, guess I'll order one for all the flying I'll be doing in the future.

I'd love the oppurtunity to listen to the original tapes from '59, guess that's a 'bucket list' item.

Joe Lovano/Us Five: Folk Art

CD

JOE LOVANO formed a new band that he calls US FIVE to record Folk Art, his 22nd effort for Blue Note. In the liberated spirit of 1960s avante-garde and 1970s loft scenes -- featuring rising stars Esperanza Spalding on bass, Francisco Mela and Otis Brown III on drums and percussion, and James Weidman on piano -- this is Joe's first album of all original compositions, mixing his native-tongue free jazz elasticity with nuanced Latin grooves and meditative lyricism. The recording captures the edge-of-the-seat group interaction of US5 as the band intuitively interprets Lovano's compositions in a loose and joyous way. (From Amazon)

Otto Klemperer is one of my favorite conductors.  His tempi in this Beethoven symphony cycle are on the slow side (especially in the 5th), but I have to say that it works for me.  Right now I am listening to "Eroica" and it is absolutely spellbinding.  For about $40 you get an outstanding symphony cycle and all five piano concertos with Daniel Barenboim.  What a great deal.

Actually it does. Nice acoustic jazz that uses the Beatle songs as improvisational themes. Far enough away from the originals not to be a simple playing of the songs by a jazz band but with enough of the original melodies to tie the jazz back to familiar tune. I think it is a good balance. YMMV

While most of the world is busy dumping their LPs in favor of the "perfect sound forever" discs, we are going the other way.  :D

I love going against the tide.  :thumb:
