I don't know how to explain this selection. It just seems so good, acoustics I have been in before,
and I love the song since a kid. Music starts at ~1:10.

Steve,

I love this song as well. A beautiful melody and lyrics as well. Roon has a nice history on the song and I’ve enjoyed many of co-composer Franck Pourcell’s compositions over the years. There are many “jazzed up” versions of this song and they annoy me quite a bit. They basically…imho….ruin a beautiful song. But I suspect the “jazzed up” version is because the song was used in the movie Sister Act. Just speculation and I’m not going to check into it further. I was able to find a few good versions on Roon and really enjoy those. Thanks for posting.

Nick

Thanks Nick.

Those other good versions, are they on YT, and if so, would you post such if you have time? I would love to hear them.
If not, no sweat.

Mom fell twice last week, and sis is coming, so not much time on my end to check.

cheers

steve

Steve,

None of the Roon versions appear to be on utube. But I did find this one and I think it’s beautifully done. Franck Pourcell and Paul Mauriat were wonderful composers.

I’m so sorry to hear your mom is not doing well.

Very nice indeed.

Nicely put Nick. Something special.

steve
Interesting tidbit on Cardon and Bestor.  Students at BYU during the time Word Perfect was being developed, they were friends of the developers.  The original recording "Innovators" was placed on the WP6 (1993) data distribution disc as kind of a lark.  This is where I first found their music.  I probably have it around here somewhere.  The recording engineer on that disc is credited as David Wilson.  Yeah.  Him.

Playing the data track through a stereo was a terrifying foray into: What the hell is that??!!?!

Go figure.
