And one of my favorites also died today, Ennio Morrecone.  The list of his film scores is too long to post, and probably close to a dozen are great scores.  First among many I consider great oboe solo from "The Mission".

One of my favourites as well. Was just listening to 'Once Upon a Time in the West.'

I did not know that he also did Carpenter's "The Thing".

I met Charlie Daniels a few years back when he was doing a small venue here. Great guy to talk to and always liked his music.

Yep.  It is sad that the guitarists of the original Fleetwood Mac were plagued with issues:  Green - a schizophrenic ;  Danny Kirwan - an alcoholic ; Jeremy Spencer - a religious cultist.  So much talent that went to hell in a handbag.  Pity...

Rocco Prestia, the genius that anchored the bottom of the groove for Tower of Power, has passed.  Along with Dave Garibaldi, they defined power funk for years.

ToP has always been on my playlist rotation.  If you can’t move with that groove you must be dead.

RIP, Rocco.

As you know Mr. Martin DeWulf had passed away in late March from a heart attack. He had type 1 diabetes.

I just found out from Mrs. Laura DeWulf, that their only son, Jason has passed away from a heart attack yesterday.
Jason was only 36 years old. He did not have any form of diabetes.

My heart just sinks. I ask for your prayers for Mrs. Laura DeWulf and sister.

Sincerely,

steve

Eddie Van Halen  - RIP!  Thanks for the great music over the years and you great sense of humor.

Pete Thorn (aka Old Googly eyes):  "Wo I'm walking up Eddie's driverway to meet him for the first time and he walks down to meet me, takes one look and says: 'so, let's get this out of the way.  Which one do I look at? ' ".

Killer player and teacher!  Totally unrelated  - if you guitar geeks aren't watching Pete Thorn and my friend Tim Pierce on youtube you are missing some great entertainment and information:

I just hope Eddie he made peace with Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony before he passed. Lots of rock star drama.

I hope so.  With fame comes ego and with ego comes separation and occasional anger.

I have a great Michael Anthony, the jerk story.  I’ll post it if anyone is interested...
