Again, this time with Pete's  Seven Plus power cord. Any excuse to relisten to this album.

Grace For Drowning
Steve Wilson | Format: Vinyl

Steven Wilson is a twice Grammy-nominated producer, writer and performer, best known as founder and front man of British prog-rock band Porcupine Tree. I love their work, but vinyl is limited and expensive.

I saw this 2x lp set yesterday, cringed at the $35 sticker, but bought it anyway.

Wilson has been remastering old King Crimson tracks, and there's some of it on this, his 2nd solo work.

Sophisticated Giant
Dexter Gordon | Format: Vinyl

Excellant hard-bop of Dexter mated to Woody Shaw's orchestra.

And great SQ on this white label Columbia demo.

Anathema - Weather Systems (CD)
- A very beautiful new album from a band that has a reputation of being doom metal. Their last few albums show a dramatic turn in their path, leaning more on melody and atmospheric sounds rather than crunching guitars. Much softer than their early work. Good emotional prog rock.

Laugh and the world laughs with you. Cry and you'll have to blow your nose.

Izz - Crush of Night (CD)
- A great follow-up to their excellent album The Darkened Room. This seems to be 2nd in a series of albums in a similar theme. Lots of melody from these guys. Light where needed and heavy when warranted. They have really developed from their early releases.

Laugh and the world laughs with you. Cry and you'll have to blow your nose.

STARLESS AND BIBLE BLACK
KING CRIMSON  | Format: Vinyl

On way home from an educational conference I stopped off in Lancaster and spent way too much money, in the mix were 2 KC albums. I love the work of Steve Wilson of Porcupine Tree, and found out he is a KC fan, to the extant he is re-mastering the old KC tapes with Robert Fripp. So I grabbed this and 1 other.

Like the music, but finding the vocals a little to 'English' sounding to the ear.

John Wetton sang lead on "Starless."  Lyrics were written by Robert Fripp and former Supertramp guitarist Richard Palmer-James.  You don't get much more "English" than those guys.

Long live the Queen.

Greg Lake on vocals.  Sounds just like John Wetton...also terribly English.

Well.......................

I am enjoying this more than the first.

Of course, trying to listen while on an excrutiatingly dull conference call.

That's not the Lake of E, L and P fame, is it?

The title track is quite good!  :thumb:
