Made In The Shade
The Rolling Stones | Format: Vinyl

Gonna try to sneak this in, but there's lightning on the horizon.

Might be a 'read a book' night.

Good time for an ipod where it all runs on battery and nothing needs to be connected to the wall.

Blind Faith 180g 33RPM LP
Blind Faith  | Format: Vinyl

I think this is the 1st lp I bought on my return to vinyl, either this or 180g Layla.

This minty original Verve pressing is one of my favorite Oscar Peterson recordings.  You should snag a copy if you can.  You won't regret it.

Speakers Corner 180g vinyl reissue.  Lester Young with the Oscar Peterson Trio.  It doesn't get any better than this.

His name isn't even printed on the cover. Back in those days jazz soloists and baseball players were the heroes of the people. Everyone knew who prez was.

I just picked up a Japanese Verve import of this album at the Crack House a few months ago. Probably not as good SQ wise as the original pressing, but I have to agree, the music is top shelf.

Continuing on my Big Band track from yesterday.....

Harry James and his Ochestra, Featuring Frank Sinatra: The Complete 1939 Recordings

CD

Back in the days when "The Chairman of the Board" actually got second billing.

(A little Sinatra trivia - I was just reading an article that said Sinatra got that nickname because when he started Reprise Records he actually was the Chairman. I never knew that.)

Jazz at the Philharmonic 1949 [Live]
Charlie Parker | Format: Audio CD

This is the only thing in my collection with Lester Young. I s*ck. But the music is fine.

I don't have much Prez either, Gene. We'll take care of that...  Meantime there's always pandora, which just happens to be playing this right now, on Jazz Essentials Station
