Pink Floyd: The Wall
Gold HDCDThis is kind of a strange release of The Wall. It is a 2 CD set of HDCD encoded gold discs imported from China (I would not be surprised if it was bootlegged and not an authorized release.) The first disc contains the entire performance of The Wall on a single CD while the second disc is like a greatest hits compilation of other Pink Floyd stuff. Even though it is (allegedly) HDCD and pressed on gold discs the SQ is not particularly any better than a standard CD issue of the same music (although it is not really any worse either.) Having many other discs that are were given the HDCD or the gold treatment this is not what you would normally expect. And whomever mastered this disc forgot to turn off the option to insert an automatic 3 second pause between tracks so unlike the original release where the songs just flow into each other this one has many long ad unnatural pauses in it.
That said when taking it out to the car it is rather handy to have the whole album on one disc so this has become my traveling copy of the album. That and the fact that I didn't pay a lot for this copy so if it got stolen or destroyed in the car I wouldn't be all that upset.)
My kids just love the cover. The track listings are printed in Chinese with broken English translations under them. Their favorite is Comfortably Numb which is translated as "Come Fartly Nom."
