Title: Can I Use Same LOD for iPad as I use for iPod?

I have a line out dock that connects to my iPod; it bypasses the volume control and sends a line level signal to my stereo. Would the jack for my iPad work the same way? They appear to have the same 30 pin connector.
I suppose I could try it, but I don't want to send some nasty signal through my preamp and damage something...
